GUERNICA-GAZA

Guernica-Gaza: Visions from the Centre of the Earth. The play is inspired by Picasso’s painting “Guernica” and Fernando Arrabal’s play in the context of the current genocidal war on Gaza by Israel, featuring five seemingly detached yet connected characters emerging from a “hellscape” of war. The play delves into the psychological effects of genocidal war on its victims as well as witnesses and raises urgent questions about the true reasons behind wars and the interconnectedness of state-sponsored violence affecting both humans and animals. It is a hallucinatory vision infused with loss, grief, nostalgia, and resilience, poignantly anchored in the unimaginable reality of yesterday, today, and tomorrow, always in Gaza.
